The University of Zagreb (1669) is the oldest and biggest university in South-Eastern Europe. As a comprehensive public Central European university, University of Zagreb offers education and research and in all scientific fields (arts, biomedicine, biotechnology, engineering, humanities, natural sciences and social sciences) and a broad spectrum of courses at all study levels, from undergraduate to postgraduate. With 31 faculties and 3 art academies, it is the flagship educational institution in the country, a place where more than 7900 teachers and 72480 students develop knowledge and acquire skills.

The university’s international relations have significantly improved since Croatia joined the European Union in 2013. International student exchange, mainly through the Erasmus+ mobility program, is extensive. The program offers our students the possibility to gain new experiences and knowledge at other universities in Europe even during their study periods.

The mission of the University is based on scientific and artistic research and aims at sustainable development, artistic creativity and professional work as well as organization and performance of university studies and, exceptionally, occupational studies. As a central and leading institution, the University gives special regard to carrying out the programmes of strategic interest for the Republic of Croatia and for the development of regional and local communities. All university activities enhance the development of personality and promote human rights and fundamental freedoms.
